In respect of the 2 questions (customisation and doom/gloom) - well, as you say, customisation continues with the latest 10.107 release where users can now apply some preferences to the look of the sidebar, potentially with more to come.
As for the doomsayers, I wonder if they're really aware of what is happening with Evernote. I think we all tens to lolse trcak of all the update releases that are beinbg continually rolled out. Did we get that sort of frequency with the pre-BS Evernote? Things are continuing to impoove and make the app easier to use and therefore make its users more productive. I thinj you've noted in the past that one of EN's greatest features is that it is flexible - you can structure your content how you want to and adapt accordingly, withoiut having to build "add-ins" or the like.
About pricing - one or two observers have made the valid comment that the old EN's free plan was too generous - it gave too mmay features away for free and consequentrly wasn't a great business model as there weren't enough reasions for people to upgrade from the old free plan, so with fewer plan upgrades less to invest on debelopment? Old EN free users were incredibly lucky at getting as many featues as they did. But now let's theow some realism in.
I think the doomsayers are beginning to fade. Evernote is still here and developing. Enjoy!
Agree with all of that. I don't understand some of the angry language folks on Reddit use, I don't really understand it. Its a computer programme and they use words that I would use if someone abducted my daughter 😂
At times i find the "official" Evernote forum not much better. There's a selection of "Power Users" there who seem to feel obligated to post on virtually every support thread some version of: "Well, it works perfectly for me, so it's clearly something you're doing wrong". It's like they're so invested in this app that any perceived criticism is taken as a personal slight.
Yeah. The way folks word things in online forums comes across very strange to me sometimes. I always like to ask myself; would I say this in the pub out loud lol.
I'm really finding your videos, articles, and the general Taming The Trunk community to be super helpful since I came across it.
Evernote has been through some rocky patches and, being a user since way back in 2008, I've often been concerned but stuck by them. I've navigated through various price plans to find one that suits me and, as you've said, if you use Evernote to its maximum potential, it's worth the money. I think Evernote is the best it's been at the moment. Long may it continue to improve.
🤔 Regarding customization: I like this first step. Will there be a second step to place Favourites horizontally just below the main menue bar? Would be great because we've to scroll the left sidebar all the time to navigate between Notebooks and Favourites...
I've not heard any mention of bringing back the horizontal favourites bar but I have heard about reordering the sidebar sections. I'd love them to go one further have have drag and drop reordering of stacks and notebooks.
Thabks for another interesting AMA session, Jon.

Thanks. Much appreciated. There's a lot going on at the moment.

👍Regarding pricing and Reddit: full agree

All reordering within the sidebar would be OK - but especially the favourites should be fixed to be available without scrolling.
I've logged this as an idea before a long time: https://discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/150712-021-display-favorites-below-main-menu-bar/ - but unfortunately without any further comments :-(
I think I'll send it to Feedback@EN ;-)
