Newsletter housekeeping: The latest version for Mac & PC is 10.97.3 and you can grab this from the Evernote download page. Phones should be on version 10.97.0.
Noticed that APP links are now gone from the note’s three dot (...) menu, only Copy WEB link is to be found there now. The app link to the note can still be found in the application menu; Note -> Copy internal note -> Copy APP/WEB link.
I understand this is to ”simplify” and avoid some confusion regarding the different links, but I for one am missing the easy (well, easier) access to the app link in the notes three dot menu.
I use Evernote by myself on mostly just the app(s), very seldom the web interface (mostly just to be able to link to a note from a Notion field), and if I share a note with someone else it’s usually shared public on the web via the Share menu.
The web link to a note does get me (eventually…) to the note in the app interface with the new preference for always opening web links to notes in the Evernote app, but it takes longer a leaves behind an ”orphaned” web window/tab.
I have saved invoices (supplier’s and customer’s) and receipts in my Evernote since forever, but now I also use Notion to eg. track purchases I’ve made on client’s behalf that I need to invoice them for. It’s easier to keep track of those purchases, their statuses, and to filter and dice&slice the information in Notion.
So from Notion I use the weblink to a note/document to link back to the invoice or receipt for the purchase, and when I have invoiced the customer I also link back to the pdf of the customer invoice I keep in Evernote.
(Since Notion doesn’t recognize local app links and doesn’t make them clickable, I have to use the weblink.)
From Todoist on the other hand, I can link to a project’s note in Evernote with the app link, which makes it easy to switch to the project note in Evernote from Todoist.
Inside Evernote, to link to other notes, I now since the @-linking was introduced only use that way to link between notes,
(Just to make it even more confusing, Evernote shows the keyboard shortcut for the web link in the three-dot menu as being the same as shown for the APP link in the top menu and the right-click menu; the shortcut is for the APP link though, so that’s a mishap that will be corrected I assume.)
Thanks, please share the feedback with Evernote. Haven’t tried copying links in the web app, am mostly in the desktop (mac) app. Realized now that that I can right-click on a note IN THE NOTES LIST – but that’s only available if the note list is visible. Most often, I just cmd+J search for notes, and then the notes list isn't visible. Can still use the Note menu in the top bar menu in the mac app to copy the app link to a note, but it’ll take some retraining (and not a fan of fold out menus in general).

You mentioned storing app links in Notion... how do you use both apps together. Used for separate workflows?

Thanks. Appreciate that and interesting how you use the three apps. I think there's going to be a few tweaks.
Agree it is more difficult to get an app link in the web version.
You can still get an internal link using the desktop apps by right clicking a note.
I'll share the feedback with them.
