Newsletter housekeeping: The latest version for Mac & PC is 10.100.3 and its available on the download page. At the time of writing the release notes say 10.99.3 is the latest but this is incorrect. Just download the file and install. The latest mobile version is 10.100.1.
I'm VERY concerned we're going to loose the internal link eventually. I connect Evernote project details with Todoist tasks (not a fan of EN tasks yet). I want to open these links in their own apps not the web & every change they make to EN seems to move us one step closer to having to use the web... I appreciate this latest newsletter becasue I thought we lost the internal links! ;)
No. There's been a lot of chat on the experts forum about this. From what I gather the issue Evernote had was a significant number of everyday users got confused over web links and app links, to them its just a link to a note and it should appear on whatever device they use so EN decided to default the UI to a web link with the option to open it where you want.
When notes were shared you used to get two links for the same note and it confused folk on which one to click.
Also having two options for a note link in the UI was confusing some folk and I think, stopping them from using the feature, so going forward its "Note Link" in the UI which is a web link and the app link is a keyboard shortcut for more advanced users. I don't see this going away.
At least on the desktop version there is still an option from the Notes menu to add the internal link. So you don't only have to use the keyboard shortcut... although that is probably easier.

This brings home the amount of development that's gone on since the start of the year!
