Thanks for the update! I loved Evernote's simplicity and UI but the overall speed on mobile was too bad that I switched over to Obsidian. I'll be keeping close tabs with what Bending Spoons is working on and maybe I'll return someday when everything is much more stable.

I'm travelling a lot of the next few weeks so will be testing out mobile in some very dodgy-signal areas, see how it goes.

Evernote are working on a Markdown import function so when you're ready to try again hopefully it'll be easy to get the Obsidian notes imported fully formatted.

The version I have doesnt have the scratchpad and has Shortcuts instead of Notebooks at the bottom. Not a fan as this means Ive got at least 3 clicks just to find/open a notebook.

Interesting. They must still be testing some of the bottom menu. I know there was a lot of discussion about scratchpad or shortcuts on the home page and both were wanted.

Excellent Article. Thanks!

The best thing we could regain on Mobile would be Siri integration for creating new Notes (And Tasks?) and even appending notes. Please help me beat this drum.

Thanks for what you do.😉

Yeah. I'd like this too especially for creating tasks via Alexa.

The shortcut link can remove a click or two if I have one for what I’m accessing. I’ll get used to the new setup eventually :)

I don’t like that it now takes more clicks to get to a note. I use mobile for reference vs creation. Love the way the desktop app is working. Not so much mobile (iOS).

Can you do device home screen shortcuts on iOS? I have a bunch of notes on my phones home screen and its one tap to get into them. I think the notes tab does show recent notes if that's any help.

I like the change but it doesn’t seem to be available on iPad which I at any rate consider to be “mobile”. I wonder if that will get it eventually too. I should point out that I am on an iPad mini which is much closer in size to a phone.

Strange, I thought the apps were updated at the same time. As far as I know there's not any distinction between tablet or mobile. I'll see if anyone else is having an issue.

Tablets are keeping the widget-world screen from what @andrew further down tells me.

I am so thankful that the old home screen with all widgets is still on my iPad Pro with a 12.9" screen (just like my MacBook Pro)! It would be horrible if they put the new mobile screen on this huge screen. In fact that would be a reason to unsubscribe immediately.

Looks like tablets are keeping widget-world so safe.

I get that works for full sized tablets but on the iPad mini it’s too restrictive. I understand that you can please everybody and I hope in future you’ll be able to choose between the too.

Currently it is implemented in a way that it automatically switches depending on the screen/window size. You can experience this by yourself when you make the screen/window smaller on your iPad. On newer iPads turn on Stage Manager and resize the Evernote window to iPhone screen size. On older iPads use Split View to make Evernote smaller. As soon as the Evernote window is as small as an iPhone screen the new navigation bar appears.

I've only just seen it today.

Like most changes in evernote, it seems like many resist change. But I was pleasantly surprised.

The whole point of evernote from the start was about capturing stuff easily and of course retrieving it.

This seems to be a lot more intuitive and faster.

Already started using it more. Hardly touched it before.

I'm really positive about the future of evernote now. I know there are groans everything they tweak something, and sometimes things are in testing phase, but the video they put out very much shows they listen to feedback in the design process. Evernote is constantly evolving and I think that's great!

Agreed. The latest mobile update makes it more usable for the purpose you indicate - fast and easy to capture stuff. It's also easy to get to your tasks to see what you need to do, and finding stuff seems more straightforward.
