Thanks for the update. I use evernote privately and for work (2 different accounts).

At work I use Outlook as calendar - and I'd love to sync this one with evernote, since I write down my meeting notes in Evernote. Currently I sync Outlook to Gmail and then to Evernote... however this doesn't work well since the syncing between outloot and gmail isn't really working well on updates e.g.

I hope Evernote will continue to make the user experience "fast" again.

The Outlook integration is still coming. Not sure exactly when but it will arrive. Some parts of the app seem pretty stable to be but others need more work. I'm looking forward to the 2nd part of the sync update rolling out.

Thanks for the updates Jon! It's great to know that Bending Spoons is continually working on new updates, and also thinking what else to improve on!

After trying out several oft-recommended names in the Rich Note Taking space, I've come to the conclusion that Evernote is a very polished and complete product, and it has a corresponding price tag as well.

I love supporting underdogs as much as anyone else, but honestly bugs, half-baked features, and workarounds are very disruptive when it comes to note-taking and productivity.

I mentioned Evernote is a mature, complete product. I would honestly not mind if Evernote maintained the same price point and offered the same features as it did now. What I'm worried though, is that Evernote takes on more features, and starts charging even more.

But for now, I see myself enjoying some of these benefits, like the real-time sync updates. So it is still alright.

Not heard anything about the price going up again so I doubt that will happen. Real Time Sync is excellent and I'm hoping that now it seems to be working well the whole app will get progressively better.

Thanks for the update. As a member since 2011 with over 25000 notes, things would have to be really bad for me to switch away from using the product... and there were times when they were.

It's comforting to know that Bending Spoons is making the investments needed to reinvigorate the product, and it to keep it relevant in an increasingly crowded market.

Thats a decent number of notes! From talking with Spoons over the last few months they really want to grow the product. Looking forward to seeing what happens.

Unless Evernote addresses the staggeringly poor decisions made in the last 5 years, this is just fluff and noise. You're listing out features that are NOT the reason people are moving away from evernote

Lets summarize your substack you're asking people to subscribe to for your own self promotion:

Coming soon Ai Cleanup will also be able to summarise, translate, fix grammar and change the tone of your note all from inside the note itself.

Literally no one is asking for this.

If you use Outlook calendar, then integration is coming soon.

Literally no one is asking for this.

Code Block Syntax Highlighting - No date set but its in development.

This would be nice - owait, it's not actually on the project plan with a delivery date. Yippee. Oh, while we're at it, can you put a code block in a list? Nope. (I just tried it and the editor wouldn't even expand the code block. Go ahead, try it. type an asterisk, hit space (stars a bullet list), then use the triple-backtick shortcut to create a code block. Nothing happens. Classy, huh?

The Real Time Editing sync works a treat now and is super fast. The rest of Evernote will be performing the same very soon. No date set but its on the way.

Another 'very soon!' - is this actually an issue? I don't care that my syncs are up to date to the second, I'd jiust like to know when I hit SAVE or CLOSE, it syncs. Does anyone actually need nanosecond updates?

Here's everything that's NOT happening.

Sharing between multiple people has fallen behind the industry standard. Apple Notes, Google Docs, Microsoft OneNote - these provide realtime sharing of docs between users without requiring everyone to have an (Increasingly expensive) subscription plan. This just shows how out of touch Evernote is with the industry.

The editor has been garbage for a decade. It has wildly inconsistent editing modes, regularly tries to reformat your lists into something that is not what you're trying to do. It's bunk.

The todo lists. Oh my god, the todo lsits. Everything we've heard for the last 2-3 years has been all about the task / todo lists. The thing no one has asked for. Why? Because there is a wonderful checklist function already there. Why was this reinvented (POORLY), with every update touting this as the next best thing?

The reason the 'doom and gloom mongers' have been banging the bell is because the product has fallen so far behind the current state of the art, coupled with steady increases in price - there's no reason to continue using it. Just use Notes, it's free. Just use Google Docs, it's free. Hell, use OneNote, which has a modern interface, is cost competitive, and has better integrations.

Evernote had it's day. The world has moved on. When people ask me for tools to use for note taking, I haven't recommended EN in years.

Do I want it to succeed? Sure, I'd love ot see it come back from it's steady decline. But posts like that don't even acknowedge the products HUGE shortcomings and just say "It's great! Everyone's lying to you!" don't do anyone any service.,
