This is a dilemma. On one hand, is setting aside $14.17/mo going to break my budget? No. On the other, this is more than I pay for any other application subscription by far. Nearly twice what I pay for my whole family to use Office 365 for a year. That's a tough pill to swallow.
The hard truth is that I tried switching before (when Evernote 10 was introduced) and nothing fit my workflow like EN does. I don't think that has changed. I guess I need to start planning for a life after Evernote, but BS is going to get at least one year out of me to convince me (again) that I shouldn't.
Yeah. It's difficult. As you say, workflow and value is everything. I pay €8.99 a month for an RSS reader. I always moan about paying for this app as its just an RSS reader and costs more than my TV subs, but I use it everyday. For me its really valuable.
I like the Evernote move to more of a productivity tool over the last couple of years. I've managed to cancel my task app subscription now that Evernote tasks are working well so that's saved me a few pennies.
Lets see what BS do with the app over the next 12 months.
Hey Jon- thanks for the reply and the great tip. I never would've found Zoho Notebook otherwise. I could never figure out which way was up in OneNote and I don't like Google to have all my data- but Zoho looks like it might be a great fix!
Yeah, OneNote make me seasick with all the wobbling around 😂 Zoho Notebook is nice and has some cool features but the organisation and structure isn't as good as EN. Let me know how you get on.
It's an almost doubling of the price. I've been on board since 2008, so I didn't make the decision lightly. But I moved all 5k+ of my notes to Apple Notes. I'll miss the OCR until I find a fix for those notes with attachments, but just time to move on for me. My wife uses it as well so two annual payments that look like a car payment was just too much for us. I moved her out as well. Apple Notes has made some big strides so this is actually not bad timing. Any suggestions for OCR? I heard "Click Up" may be adding it.
Would be great if there was a family plan. Not a lot of apps do OCR. I think Zoho notebook does it and possibly Onenote through one drive. Google drive does it but nothing that has the flexibility and structure of Evernote.
As a professional ERP consultant, Evernote is like oxygen to me. The part that is difficult for me to get over is that Evernote is finally fixing problems that was last decade issues and hit you with oh BTW here is price increase for "stability?"
Yeah. The last few years have seemed to be driven by new features and not reliability. I know when Bending Spoons first took over they said they wanted to deal with sync, performance and stability first and I think they've made a good start. These three things should be a given and bulletproof.

I thought I’d found my “forever” notes app. I’m afraid I’m going to be priced out.
Sorry to hear that John. The free plan is still going if its any use to you. Hopefully you'll be back one day.
