Discovered it way back in April of 2008 and I don't even remember why or how. I just know when the App Store was launched it was one of my favorite apps and I was an evangelist. I used to listen to the Evernote podcast religiously and was very active in the community. After a very long hiatus (for many reasons), I am back checking things out. Discovered your substack and I am now a subscriber. Thanks for all you do!

I purchased Evernote around 2017 for PDF editor feature at the time but didn't really use it for taking notes till somewhere around 2018ish. I was working on a very niche project, Data collection for CNC machines (mazak's), when it all clicked and how critical it was to write things down and document. since then I been religiously taking notes for my projects. I wish I could integrate the home dashboard but haven't successfully found a way to make it part of my workflow.

Really interesting what folks use it for. I worked with a company who made wooden boxes for things like land rovers and military vehicles. They had huge internal anchor points. They used Evernote to store all the different drawings, diagrams and dimensions, kind of a base station for the company knowledge.

I think, I discovered evernote around 2012.

It was my first adventure into note taking , but that's not true . I didnt actually use it to make notes. I used it to capture stuff, for it to be my second brain.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2015, a confirmation as to why I spent most of my life struggling with personal organisation and various things.

For me Evernote can be as organised or disorganised as I like , and it still functions . Like a b17 with 3 engines out , and It will still get me home.

I drifted away from it (adhders tend to get bored with stuff, or want to try new stuff).

I'm back with it now , and trying to consistently use it for capturing everything.

I love tags rather than strict notebooks.

I love the Ocr function, cos if I miss label something I can search and find it.

Love capturing random scribbles and post it notes.

Evernote still works for me and I'm glad they have experts like you that they liase with. I hope bending spoons continue to improve evernot e.

Jon - Very Interesting, I found Evernote in May 2011 and have been a paid user since then, thought the early years I only really used it intermittently, but When V10 came out, like you I liked the more modern feel about it. I did have some misgiving about things being moved to different parts of the screen but I suspect it was more being forced out of my comfort zone, and the more I used, it the more I liked it, so much so that I ditched Legacy after a few weeks and have never felt the need to go back to it. Home, Calendar, Tasks, & Widgets definately made Evernote Home my starting point for the day, where I can see what is in front of mr for the day, and has certainly improved my work flow. I am in UK and slipped under he wire for the new pricing by two days so for my Prefessional Plan it is only costing me 23p per day which, for the value I get from it is excellent value for money. Even allowing for the Price increase which I will require to pay next year this only raises my cost by around 4p per day.

23p is nothing. I paid £3.50 for some Feta the other day, that's like 15 days of Evernote 😂

Jon - thanks for the latest post, even if it's not "exciting". You've got me wondering what might be ins tore from Evernote next...

With regard to my first encounter with Evernote, my Account Info tells me that I started using it in 2008 as well. If memory serves i used version 2 (?) on a Windows XP Tablet PC! But I probably didn't really use it in earnest until 2012, and am still using it regularly. The thing I've liked is it's flexibility - the ease of organising things - you're not forced to adapt to a method that the app is built around, there is the ability to use as much or as little of the features as you need.

Ha! Very similar stories. I kind of remember those XP tablets. I found my old IPaq Windows CE PDA a few weeks ago. Must try and find a charger.
