I'm on 10.85.4 and Tasks is still a fly out menu for me. I guess it must be a staged roll-out. Regarding the Evernote calendar I see no point in it to me. I want everything reflected in my main Calendar (Google in my case). I like that I can have everything in one place but the Evernote Calendar is a bit meh.
I should say though that I am loving the cadence of releases and new features - a real breath of fresh air.
Logging out and in again made no difference but did give me a mild heart attack when, initially, Evernote said it didn't recognise my password 🤣. I'll hang on and see what it looks like when it reaches me. It would have to be pretty good to shake me from RTM though.
The task updates are great! If they add labels/tags, they would be true Todoist competitors. The speed that they're adding new features and enhancements is incredible!
There was talk a few months ago in one of the expert calls about trying to find ways for tags to be better discovered and managed so I think adding to tags will happen. From what I read between the lines they'd like to make the tag system more powerful and easier to use.
A couple of things they need to tackle on Tasks: 1. Natural language programming - I should be able to type, for example, "Next Wednesday" on a task and have it set to that date (along with all the other NLP features Todoist has). 2. There needs to be a way to not show/auto-archive completed tasks within a note.
I've recently come back to Evernote after leaving over recent price increases. I'll have to suck it up and stay because nothing helps me stay organized like Evernote and this new task functionality looks great. I'm on 10.85.4 on my Mac but don't have the full page tasks yet. Looking forward to it though!
I've tried to manage my tasks in Evernote, but the lack of linking within a task limiting. I need the ability to have some tasks in a list. Using sort to see a day or week is very abstract.
Can you add a high level task to a note and then use check boxes for the list underneath? You can view tasks by note. Will be useful for some folk if tags were added to tasks at some point.
I'm still waiting on the Task update, but that looks great. I wish they'd gone with Tags instead of Priority which would've made the system more flexible.
I did create a test event in the Calendar and it seems fine. As you say it's very 'bare bones' as you can only have a single Calendar and Events are lacking all but the most basic features. At this point we really need a Month and Week view for a better overview - especially in the full screen view.
More concerning though is how far behind the mobile client is falling. You can see the Calendar events on Mobile but not create them. There's no collapsible headers, you can't rename files, no slash command etc. I'm hoping that they're working on a bigger refresh of mobile beyond that homepage change to catch back up to Desktop & Web. For iPadOS I'd really just love the full desktop client now. Most of the time I switch to the Web client in Safari to get around the reduced feature set. Given the rapid pace of innovation, I'm sure this will all come in time.
I think tags will come but may be after some sort of "better look" as tags in general. From what I read from them they'd like tags to be easier to manage.
Agree about views. Week and month are essential especially for moving events around.
Also agree about mobile. Its getting more attention and I think there's plans to get everything working everywhere.
A few folk are asking for it. Apparently the Apple calendar API is not easy to work with. I think if they find a manageable solution then it'll get added.

Try a log out and back in again to see if the tasks work. Same as you with the calendar. A bit basic but will be interesting how it develops.

Lack of tagging capability is the only thing that is keeping me from attempting to move from Todoist right now. But surely that's on the way, right?

That's what I've heard.

1. Totally agree. Was spoilt by Todoist for many years. They are looking at more ways to get tasks into Evernote as well.
2. I think (?) they are looking at something like this. Its been mentioned a fair bit.
Would imagine 2 would come before 1 as Evernote is used in 27 languages! Maybe some Ai/Machine learning magic could help.

Welcome home Joe! The new tasks page is great. I'm kind of living in it right now.

*the tasks are now a full page instead of being a slide out side bar*
Is this Mac only right now? Following update on Windows, tasks are still a slide out for me.
I’m on Mac and have the side bar so must be a staged roll out to all platforms

Still no support for iCal! … 🤬
