I use a legacy version for one purpose: when I have a lot of notes that I need to change the Created Date on. The current version of EN does not allow a user to type in a new Created Date, instead using the ridiculous spinning wheels for month and year, which is ponderous if I need to change a date to sometime in the 1970's (vinyl record collection, or scanning in a batch of old documents).
Yeah. I've heard a couple of folk talk about how they use created date for something other than the note created date. I think one was a historian and logged documents in from the early 1900s. It a difficult one, maybe store the date in the note but that would mean you couldn't sort it.
Yes, V10 started at fifty notes per bulk action...
That isn't even 0.1 of my note numbers.
There could be fifty a day... and some time before end of the week or month Some would get moved into project or subject notebooks, but many would be dropped "in bulk" into month folders.
So yes inserting bent cutlery into the work flow is an actual pain in the arse. ; ))))))
I hear you, but it was the perfect GTD and Scrum procedure for an individual.
I have a list of things to do monthly. During the month I notice ways to make it better faster, so I tweak the list as I go along. At the end of the month I have a more refined process. I duplicate the note, rename it to this month, uncheck the completed to dos and repeat. The Tags let categorize the lists according to context and project so I can create custom searches that are saved in the top of the menus. That is a very simple and intuitive workflow that uses the most basic elements.
I have been nagging them on a number of features missing (in the beginning I did not have duplicate a note). The last feature I need is uncheck all. But, they are promoting tasks, not todo lists and the tasks are a completely separate function to a note list and do not translate any of the simple GTD processes. So to be clear, my workflow changes at every iteration. I just lost the functionality that made that simple. I have moved to Obsidian and now find everything I need and more (after testing 15 different solutions). I have a history of being a SME on productivity, so when I have to leave a platform its for a very good reason.
It was never meant to be a replica. Back in 2018/19 when the old team was thinking about the rewrite they deliberately removed functionality that was hardly ever used. Some folk are not going to be happy. Workflows should really change over years if they are to become productive workflows.

Yes, sorting by Created Date is my default. Typically I don’t need to go back further than 1970…. 1907 would really bug me!
I think we'd be talking 78's or cylinders :)
Paper tape? Punched paper tape, perhaps

Glad Nixnote2 will keep working, I'm on Ubuntu Linux, and having a native client is very nice.
Is that still going! I remember using it like a decade ago on Ubuntu. Pretty sure it had a slightly different name back then.
Was it called Nevernote?
Yes, and it was in Java, and multi platform, renamed at some point, version 2 is C++, and Linux only I believe.

Appreciate the conversation
Thanks
Dude really
"There are also folk who have built workflows within the legacy app and have used these flows for over a decade and now things are changing.
There are folk who just don't like change."
The fact is v10 and Legacy don' have feature parity. Those missing parts break the workflows of the past.
It was never meant to be a replica. Back in 2018/19 when the old team was thinking about the rewrite they deliberately removed functionality that was hardly ever used. Some folk are not going to be happy. Workflows should really change over years if they are to become productive workflows.
And the current version file name showing you "latest version" and not the version number is just stupid...
So dropping down to "free" as I progressively transfer on need to Obsidian...
Bye bye Nevernote...
Also... the one percent using the Legacy are likely to be the biggest users... so they are making it harder for heavy users, etc., etc.
