Typically a forwarded email, usually a customer request of some kind.
And any notes that I've taken separately relating to that request.
Once completed, I merge all the notes together and arrange them in an order that makes sense to me. It's just nice to have everything to do with a specific request all in one spot for reference.
I've tried tables in the past but always got pretty frustrated working with them. Maybe I'll give it another go.
Like others, I've been using the Merge feature for quite some time. It's so useful if you've got a note on a subject, then find something on the web relating to it that you capture with the web clipper, and then you receive an email about it that you forward into EN - you can then merge them all into one note. And you can use the /table of contents feature to create a ToC based in the individual note headers.
So far, I am still learning - I merge an invoice with its payment receipt and keep them in a dated Note in my 'Receipts' Notebook. They'll be deleted in a year, or seven years, depending on legal requirements.
Merging is great 👍- but has a small problem if you have defined links to the source notes: If the merge operation deletes these, all already defined links (within other notes) will lead to Nirwana 😤.
Merging and deleting the merge-sources means that links to these formerly standalone-notes point to nowhere. If you click on such a link, either nothing happens or any other note is displayed.
Is there a standalone note? Does the merged note become a new one? Interested in the workflow about changing the note links to the merged note or just removing them altogether?
Merging notes is something Evernote does really well. I tend to make a lot of individual notes on a topic and then later I keep the most important notes as separate notes and then merge the others into a single note to keep things tidy, adding note links to the merged note so everything's easily to hand.
Nice idea. Not tried it but a table of contents block at the top of a bunch of merged notes might help quickly navigate through them. Will try that later.

That's a good idea. I hadn't thought of combining customer support type requests.

Nice idea. Very useful. Glad the TOC is working as I've not tried that yet.

Nice. I should do that as well as I keep mine separate right now.

I never have any links in notes I merge. Are you saying merging deletes internal note links? I'll try it later.
