Jon, you inspired me to give Todoist another try for tasks. Still loving Todoist natural language input, universal quick add, subtasks, labels, and especially the better experience in managing more dynamic lists in iOS with touch in Todoist vs EN. But liking idea of one fewer app too. Love ideas of multiple task widgets on home with more perpetual filter options; task filtering in EN beyond date, assigned or note; tasks with note links; and tasks in tables. Also just wanted to say that I appreciate and look forward to your EN newsletters. Thank you!

I use EN Tasks quite regularly. Didn't think U would when they were first introduced, but again the flexibility of EN allowed me to develop a system/workflow that suited me.

I create a Notebook for each active "Project", then set up a master "Project Control Note" that records relevant information about the overall project. I then populate the Notebook with individual notes about activities within the project. Links to these activity notes are added to the project control note . Within both the project control note and the activity notes I can add tasks with due dates so that on displaying the Tasks list panel in due date order I can see what my next tasks are. I also have other notes which contain lists of regular activities - like bill payments, check-ups, subscription renewals, etc each of which are set up as a recurring task on whatever frequency they occur. So they appear in my Task list, and when I complete the current recurrence and check it off it automatically sets up the next instance.

From the Task list panel, (in due date order) I can click to open the note where the task is located and see more details about the task- that might be free text or images or links to other notes or files or Drive attachments.

When I forward something that's arrived in my email to Evernote, I try and remember to modify the subject line so that it becomes a more meaningful Note title, and may insert the text of one or more relevant tasks (if I've already thought of them) above the forwarded message text so that once in EN I can select this task text and use Alt+T to create a task.

The purple task icon in Note lists make Activity notes with uncompleted tasks stand out.

Within a note I'd like to be able to put Tasks into Table cells so that I could have a table with the task entry in one column, another column could then be used to contain extended information about the task, and maybe a third column for some other reference numbering or similar.

I really like the idea of a Project Control Note. I'm going to build that into my client notebooks. Right now I kind of do it at the bottom of my client contact sheet.

Tasks in tables have been spoken about a lot and I think it will come, or a better solution to displaying tasks in general. I'm hopeful.

I have not used Tasks very often. I find viewing each of my recent notes a good reminder. Each time I edit a particular entry it moves it to the top of the list which reminds me what to do. Follow up to a previous inquiry: the ability to see photo images returned.

I switched Tasks from Evernote to Todoist for the same reason, and it's working much better for me. I used Evernote heavily for Tasks, and Todoist provides the things Evernote is missing like Priority Flags and Labels. I know they're looking at adding these, and I liked having my Notes, Tasks and Calendar all in one dashboard. For now, using two apps is better for me in terms of productivity.

Yeah. There's going to big a lot of changes soon with tasks. As you mention more flags but also an easier way to see more tasks. The full screen view for tasks will offer some nice grouping options. I think they're hoping to release something gin the next few weeks.

Excellent post and comments. Evernote has evolved into what I most loved about using a paper planner; tasks, calendar, and notes in one view. I know I am not as productive when I am moving between different apps that fulfil these functions.

Thanks. That's a great way of describing it, never thought of it like that. I used to carry my leather bound planner around everywhere pre-cloud days and you're right, Evernote does it all now.

I am using a mixed approach of Evernote and Google tasks, using both task list android mobile widgets. Not as much organized as you, I use to add tasks to projects notes and client meeting summary notes. For personal reminders without long text or related note I rather use Google that is quicker to create and see on Calendar and some other simple to use features. Recently Google added a new folder in Calendar to see all task groups on screen.

You know that Google Calendar integration in Evernote homepage only includes the calendar events but not the tasks.

By the moment I am pleased with this approach expecting as you what the integration tools will be.

(Sending notes by email with included tasks have not a very clean format)
